About the data
Where the sample comes from, what it tells us, and how to use this prototype.
What the data includes
This prototype uses the sample supplied in NHDES RFP DES 2026-23 Addendum 4. It includes 17 projects in 16 communities, with $30,791,183 in binding commitments.
Each record includes a recipient, town, county, project number, narrative, project category, program, commitment date, and funding amounts by source. The figures shown on this website are calculated from those records.
Prototype prepared by BI Consulting Services, LLC for NHDES RFP DES 2026-23. This is not an official NHDES website.
Important data notes
- Sample, not a statewide inventory. The data is for this proposal prototype and does not show every NHDES-funded project.
- Approximate locations. Map markers show town centers, not the exact location of construction or facilities.
- Grants and loans. The sample does not split grants from loans. Amounts are shown as funding commitments.
- Program spelling. The source file spelled one sub-category "Wastwater". This prototype shows it as "Wastewater" and keeps the original value in the download.
- Categories and descriptions. Categories follow the sample. A narrative may describe work that differs from its assigned program.
- Future data. District definitions, disadvantaged designations, project photos, and videos will come from NHDES.
Data checks
These checks run in your browser on the NHDES sample each time the page loads.
| Check | Result |
|---|---|
| Source amounts add up to All Sources | 17 of 17 projects |
| Sub-category values normalized | 1 project: "Wastwater" shown as "Wastewater" |
| Grant plus loan equals total | Grant and loan split not in the sample |
| Projects with photos or video | 0 of 17 projects |
| Exact locations | 0 projects |
| Approximate locations, town centers | 17 projects |
What changes with the full NHDES file
- About 400 projects at launch, covering 2021 to the present.
- About 1,400 projects with the archive, covering 35 years. Some years have as few as 3 projects and others up to 300.
- Geocoded addresses. Projects get exact points, and work along several streets, such as sewer lines, appears as lines.
- District. The District filter turns on once NHDES defines districts.
- Grant and loan split. Each source shows its grant and loan parts, including BIL.
- Media. Each project can show 3 to 6 photos and 1 to 2 captioned videos.
- Disadvantaged flag. ARPA projects in this category get a badge and can be shown on the map.
- Dams. Dam projects appear as their own program and story chapter.

Help and user guide
Find and filter projects
Open Explore projects and search for a recipient, town, project number, or word in a description. Choose Town, County, Funding source, Project type, Program, or Commitment year to narrow the results. You can choose more than one value in each filter. Use Clear all to start again.
Use the map with a keyboard
Tab to the map and use arrow keys to pan. Use the Zoom in, Zoom out, and Reset view buttons to change the view. Tab to a project marker and press Enter to open its summary. Press Escape to close the summary and return to the marker. Cluster buttons show groups of nearby projects and zoom in when selected.
You do not need to use the map. Every project appears in the results list, with a link to its full page. On a small screen, choose Map or List to switch views.
Read charts as tables
Choose View as table below a chart to see the same values in a table. Dollar amounts in tables are exact. Headline figures are rounded to make them easier to read.
Share a view
Filters, search, sort order, and selected projects are included in the page address. Copy that address to share the same view. Use Share project on a project page to copy its link. Your filters remain in place when you return to the explorer.
Download data
Choose Download CSV on the project explorer to save the currently filtered records. The file includes project details, each source amount, exact totals, and approximate coordinates.
Print a town summary
Find a community on Towns and choose Print summary. The printed version keeps the prototype notice and removes navigation and interactive controls.
